CDI briefing - 2024 general election manifestos
Which parties have a clear focus on careers, education, skills and jobs, and how do their policies differ? We delve behind the headliens with an analysis of the manifestos (or Contract for Reform UK) to see what they are promising for young people and adults to help them achieve in their careers.
While most parties, aside from Labour, make little mention of career development directly, their wider education, skills and jobs polices raise questions for careers practitioners. Indeed, even areas such as immigration, the environment and supporting public services have knock-on effects to the availability of jobs, the skills needed to fulfil them and the career choices young people and adults will need to make.
We have reviewed the manifestos of Labour, Conservatives, Reform UK, Liberal Democrats, Greens, SNP, Plaid Cymru, Sinn Fein, Alliance and TUV.
