Muted confidence leads to drop in permanent roles
The KMPG and Recruitment & Employment Federation (REC) published their latest UK Report on Jobs, showing that the weak economic outlook and low business confidence led to the fastest contraction in permanent job placements for over three years.
This is at the same time that the UK saw a significant increase in the availability of people for work, resulting in some moderation of pay pressure, though permanent salaries continued to rise. The growth in candidate availability is largely de to an uplift in redundancies and hiring freezes.
