About Me

I have worked within the role of guidance practitioner since 2001 supporting a wide range of young people. I hold both Level 4 and Level 6 qualifications in Careers Information, Advice and Guidance. I currently manage the New Directions Careers Service in Blackburn but also continue to support young people to allow me to retain my skills and knowledge. Over the years I have worked in mainstream schools, pupil referral units, colleges, training providers and in the community. I have supported a wide range of young people including the most vulnerable and the most able. I continue to keep my skills and knowledge up to date by having close links with provision and attending a variety of CPD days. Each member of our team is linked to a local training provider so we regularly receive updates on provision. We offer a Traded Service to schools whereby they can buy our time to provide a wealth of different activities to support the students with their decision making. The service is continually accredited by Matrix and all 11 members of the team are Level 6 qualified in Careers Advice and Guidance.
