About Me

I am currently working as a Careers Adviser at Sandwell College in the West Midlands. In this role I provide high quality impartial careers guidance to students and prospective students of the college. The college has over 4500 16-18 year old learners as well as adult learners. I have developed the college’s Careers Programme and developed and delivered activities to help the college progress towards meeting the Gatsby Benchmarks. I have been proactive in developing pages on the colleges VLE. I also act as the main UCAS co-ordinator for the college. As a qualified careers Leader, I am advising SLT on Careers Policy and leading a focus group to develop a Careers Strategy.

As a fully qualified careers adviser/ Connexions personal adviser I have over 20 years’ experience of delivering and managing high quality impartial and independent careers guidance. I have worked for Careers Service/ Connexions companies in Worcestershire, Staffordshire and the Black Country. I have previously provided careers information, advice and guidance in Worcestershire Schools and an academic sixth form college as well as undertaking work on behalf of the Morrisby Organisation. Whilst self-employed as a Careers Consultant, I developed a website which was well used by students in Worcestershire schools.

In a previous role Team Manager for the Worcestershire Connexions ensuring that the careers guidance delivered locally was of a high quality and enjoyed an excellent reputation with local schools and the young people who used the service.

I have recently completed the CDI Careers Leader qualification. I hold the Level 7 careers guidance qualifications the Diploma in Careers Guidance (DipCG) and Advanced Certificate in Professional Guidance Practice (ACPGP), am a member of the Career Development Institute and on the Careers Profession Alliance (CPA) Register of Career Development Professionals. I am a trained assessor which has enabled me to monitor and assess careers guidance practice to ensure it has met the high standard expected. I am also trained adviser, able to administer the Morrisby Profile which offers a psychometric profile and careers suggestions based on a series of innovative scientifically based tests (see www.morrisby.co.uk for further details).
