Search engine and database list

This list contains websites from where you can search for further papers on career development or related fields. While many papers remain behind paywalls, this is gradually changing and there are now a growing number of open-only resources that you can find. 

NB: There have been some comparisons of online databases over time using both formal and informal reviewing criteria (e.g. Iowa State University; Paperpile) though their strengths and weaknesses tend to vary by subject. This list below additionally contains search engines and sources for books and archived articles, as well as papers in current academic journals.

We have also included a few AI powered search tools that look across databases and can provide some additional features such as the ability to create summaries, trend reports and maps that connect different sources. However, these often require payment.
