  • How do children form ideas of possible careers?
  • Raising aspirations = improved engagement
  • What are the barriers to aspirations and how can we counter them?
  • What do you want to achieve and how will you know if you get it?
Target audience

This expert training online session is aimed at career development practitioners, teachers and enterprise advisers and people in supporting roles who are:
  • Currently working or looking to work in primary schools who wish to introduce careers education in the form of lessons, activities or events
  • Secondary school careers leaders working with their feeder schools to deliver careers lessons, activities or events.
  • Enterprise advisers working with primary schools
  • Other roles working to deliver careers lessons, activities or events in primary schools.
  • Learning Outcomes

Key objectives of the workshop are to:
  • To understand and identify the purpose of CEIAG within KS1/2.
  • To understand the basic theory of how young people’s concept of career and it’s possibilities develops and how to use that to target activities.
  • To ensure that delegates are able to identify the value of lessons, events and activities to pupils and stakeholders alike and communicate them to relevant parties.
  • To consider quality assurance and the emerging quality standards for careers work in primary schools.
  • To be able to define your own success criteria for improvement and to be able use this to evaluate your achievement.
